I have stayed pretty busy this last
month, with web site work, and performances at the Anchorage
Folk Festival. Jubilee did a set, and I also got to play concertina
for the Anchor Town Juggler's debut performance. I enjoyed
watching our daughter Amanda play with the "Missing Matts"
-- their set is here
on You Tube, and the sequel.
The juggler's set will hopefully be up on You Tube sometime
soon. They were impressive! Our friend Shonti put on a great
80th birthday party for Doc South, with a lot of great live
music. Doc was instrumental in getting launching square and
contra dancing in Anchorage in the early 1980's, which led
to the birth of Dancing Bears. Here is a great picture of
Doc
that was taken at Galway Days in 2006. Happy birthday, Doc!
Another highlight of January for me and Jim was the Haggis
Basher's Ball at the Sheraton, where we played all our favorite
fast and furious Irish tunes for whiskey-filled dancers.

Happy
New Year!
This has been a very eventful year for me, having started
a new job, taken 2 trips, all while trying to keep up with
gigs, sessions and a few freelance web clients. I have been
turning down the majority of potential new web site clients
that have come my way, but I rarely turn down music gigs.
I guess that says something about where my priorities lie.
I have been pretty involved with my church, and completed
one whole year of full time employment at AQP Publishing.
I find it all pretty rewarding, so I expect to be doing much
of the same over the next year. I'm looking forward to the
Anchorage Folk Festival at the end of this month. Tania Opland
and Mike Freeman are in town for a concert Jan. 11th at Amazing
Grace Lutheran. Among other things, Tania plays hammered dulcimer,
fiddle, and is a great singer.
